The Why and What of Your Website’s Care Plan

Your website is complete but now what? The upkeeping of a website might seem like a simple task but it involves so many elements that might be hard for someone who isn’t trained in web design to do. Setting up a care plan with your web designer can help! Maintaining a website includes keeping up with the security of your site, maintenance, content and so much more. Let’s break down what is needed to keep your website looking and working great and why setting up a care plan is the way to go.

Tech Support

A website care plan is like having tech support that you know you can rely on. You will know beforehand what they cover and you can always ask them questions as time goes on. Doesn’t that sound so much better than having to wait on an unreliable 3rd party or even having to do your own research? Signing up for a care plan is like signing up for insurance, it protects you from eventual website problems! It will always be there when you need it.

First, let’s talk about backups and backup restoration. One little change or software update can throw your website through a loop, give yourself some peace of mind by keeping daily backups. Backing up your website ensures that you can get your website completely restored if anything happens. Hacking, viruses, or even updating your website can cause problems. Daily backups are your fail-safe!

Having a web designer continuously monitor your security is crucial to keeping your business safe. Having an unsafe website can lead to your information and your customers’ information being compromised. Getting threats detected as soon as possible will help protect the integrity of your website and protect whatever SEO reputation you’ve built. You won’t have to stress over this because having a website care plan will cover this!

Uptime Monitoring

Uptime monitoring is checking to see the response time of your website. This is important to see how your website is working. This helps you make sure the quality of your website is being upheld and that it’s working great for your customers. Tools are used to measure this and if anything goes wrong it can alert your web designer and they can fix it.

Audits and Data Reporting

Having a website is one thing but having a website that is generating leads to your business is another. Auditing your website to make sure it’s working well is one way to make sure you’re getting customers. Checking your data to see if your website is performing well is also important. Monthly website audits and analysis can help your web designer see if there needs to be any adjustments.

As your business grows and changes so will your services. You might want to adjust the content of your website to better fit what you offer. This also can include putting up any new pictures. videos, client testimonials. Having a care plan means you can easily get that set up without any worries. Your website will always reflect your business as it is currently!

WordPress Updates

A few times a year WordPress will update and when it does you want to make sure your website’s integrity stays the same. For someone who is well versed in WordPress, this can be simple. Having a website care plan can make sure that when your website has updates, everything will still run smoothly.

Plugin Updates

Many websites use 3rd party plugins on their site. Examples of this are PayPal, Youtube, Google Analytics, contact forms, page builders, calendars, and email services. In addition to keeping up your site, you also have to monitor if any of these plugins have made adjustments that can affect how your website is being run. A website care plan can cover all of this.

Email Marketing

Email marketing is a great way to bring more traffic to your site and a great way to keep customers updated with your business. With email marketing comes the responsibility of keeping your emails up to date with new and relevant information. This is something you can do yourself or it can be included in a care plan. Having someone else manage this can take a load off of your long list of responsibilities. Checking to see if your email marketing is successful is another task that can be included in a care plan.

As you can tell, there is a lot of work that goes into the maintenance of a website. Having a care plan means you’ll always have the support you need. Your website plays an important role in the success of your business, so having someone there when you need them is also important!
